They contain filters, receivers and amplifiers that help to amplify the received signal and convert it back into an electrical signal. Fibre optic transceivers are integrated devices that contain both transmitter and receiver functions in a single package. The transceiver contains an optical amplifier and receiver, and an electronic filter, diode and amplifier to convert the electrical signal into an optical signal and vice versa.
